Big name artists which include Lil’ Wayne, Ghostface Killah, Bun B, Scarface, Q-Tip, Wyclef Jean and a handful of other hip-hop icons have become the latest additions for the 5th annual “VH1 Hip Hop Honors” set to air from NYC next month.
The program which pays homage to rap pioneers finds comedian Tracey Morgan returning for hosting duties. He will be honoring Cypress Hill, De La Soul, Naughty by Nature, Slick Rick and Too $hort.
VH1’s executive vice president and general manager Tom Calderone said the following:
“Now in its fifth year, the ‘VH1 Hip Hop Honors’ has come to represent the pinnacle of innovation and achievement in hip-hop music,” he said in a statement. “This year’s five honorees are no different and are being recognized for their significant contributions to hip-hop culture and for helping to elevate hip-hop into a truly global phenomenon.”
Also scheduled to appear at this year’s event will be Biz Markie, Kid Rock, MC Lyte, Lil’ Jon, DJ Kaos, Sanna Lathan and onscreen duo Cheech and Chong.
The 5th annual VH1 Hip Hop Honors airs on Monday, October 6 at 10 p.m. EST.
