"The Grammy Awards process once again has yielded a comprehensive, diverse and eclectic group of excellent nominees across multiple genres," said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy. "This year's nominations are truly reflective of the talented community of artists and creators who represent some of the highest levels of musical excellence. Coupled with our first-ever primetime nominations special, featuring stellar performances by past Grammy winners and nominees, we're off to an incredible start on the road to Music's Biggest Night and the 51st Annual Grammy Awards in February."

Other notable nominees include Estelle, Jazmine Sullivan, Rihanna, Kid Rock, Flo-Rida, T-Pain, Nas and others.

This year’s nominees were announced during a live broadcast on CBS from Nokia’s L.A. Live Theatre last night (December 3).

Kanye West Inspires Lil Wayne

Photobucket

Can somebody do something to impress Lil Wayne? Several weeks back, he told MTV that he loved the music that was out, but none of it really excited him, let alone pushed him to excel. Well, except one man: Kanye West.

"I'm on there. I already did a song on there," Weezy said with a smile about 'Ye's 808s & Heartbreak. Weezy, who appears on "See You in My Nightmares," was very excited about the release of the album, which dropped last Monday. This week, we'll sit back and wait to see how big the numbers will be.

" 'Ye is an innovator, so it's always a pleasure to be around someone so creative, because it drives you to be more or just as," Wayne said about working with West

DJ Drama Talks What To Expect On Dedication 3

Dedication 3 Pictures, Images and Photos

Lil Wayne's, 'Dedication 3' mixtape releases on Thursday, November 13th.
"People have their opinions or their comments, but Wayne putting out a mixtape shows he's still in the game," Dram said on Monday evening. "[This mixtape] isn't for the money or the fame, it's for the people. It's for the game. You can hate on Drama or Wayne all you want, but we're doing this for the game."

The first two Dedication CDs have been instrumental in setting up Wayne's evolution as the hottest MC in the game over the past few years. Weezy and Drama have been talking about Dedication 3 for most of this year, and Dram said he started to send Wayne beats six months ago; the tape was completed last week.

"I picked the 'Art of Storytelling 4' beat," the DJ said. "You never heard nobody rip that 'Art of Storytelling' other than Outkast. People are scared of that. That's [Andre] 3000 on there. Weezy went in, he killed it. He did his thing. The 'Shootouts' beat by Soulja Boy is on there. Wayne did the V.I.C. 'Get Silly." One of my favorites he did was the old Lil Jon and Too Short 'Di-- Pleaser.' Tip's 'Whatever You Like' is on there. 'Ain't I,' that beat is on there — it's more singing on this tape clearly than part one or part two. But that's where Wayne is right now, his zone."

"I think it's more ... definitely more Young Money [Entertainment] than it was on the first two tapes," Drama explained. "It was always Young Money on the tapes, but I think this one is more for what Wayne is doing. He knew people would be paying attention to the brand. It was a place for his artists to shine as well. I also have my artists Willie the Kid and La the Darkman on the tape. Just the brands alone, Dedication, Wayne, Gangsta Grillz — it's that strong."

In related news, Weezy will have a eight-week tour with T-Pain, Keyshia Cole, and Gym Class Heroes starting December 18. There should be no problem filling the set lists up, as Pain's Thr33 Ringz comes out November 11; Cole's next album, A Different Me, drops December 16, and Wayne is set to release his latest street massacre, the Dedication 3 mixtape on Thursday. Once again, the New Orleans Fireman teams up with the Mixtape President, DJ Drama.

Lil Wayne Makes Good On Rochester Show; Misses Weekend Shows

The promoter of a controversial, canceled Lil Wayne concert in Rochester, New York has announced that the New Orleans rapper will make up the missed date.

Over 8,000 fans were disappointed last Sunday (October 26), when Lil Wayne refused to perform at the Blue Cross Arena, allegedly because of the venue’s sound system.

Hip-Hop star Ludacris replaced Lil Wayne as the headlining performer during the concert, which has now been rescheduled for December 6 at the same venue, the Blue Cross Arena.

According to promoter Ed Strickland, all parties involved have agreed to the December 6 rescheduled date, which was originally reserved for a concert featuring Atlanta rap superstar T.I.

Original tickets will be honored for the December 6 show, while refunds for Sunday’s missed show will still be available to disenchanted fans until December 14.

Lil Wayne canceled more dates last week as well, leaving behind a trail of angry fans and supporters.

The day after he missed the Rochester New York performance (October 27), Lil Wayne left over 20,000 fans in Boston disappointed at JAMN 94.5’s Monster Jam, after the rapper and his entourage refused a security check.

Headliner Jay-Z extended his set during the concert in order to calm angry fans, who had paid to see the rapper perform.

On October 28, Lil Wayne rapper made New York’s Power 105.1’s annual “Powerhouse” concert at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey and gave a spectacular performance.

Then, AllHipHop.com found out that Lil Wayne canceled two more dates, at the RBC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina on October 31 and another one at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey on November 1.

No rescheduled dates are available for the missed shows in Boston, North Carolina and New Jersey, although sources told AllHipHop.com that the Attorney General’s in each state are monitoring the situation.

Representatives for Cash Money Records could not provide an explanation when AllHipHop.com inquired about the matter.
